A baseline survey on the knowledge and attitude of medical students to family medicine was carried out during the period of October 12 through October 15, 1987 to provide the basic information for the establishment family medicine in the regional medical college hospital.
The major findings of this survey were as follows:
1) The rate of knowledge of family medicine was 90.7% and most of them heard it from the mass media(34.7%) and their teachers(34.3%)
2) 77% of students answered that family medicine is needed in Korea medical system, and 82.3% of students answered that this hospital needs to establish family medicine.
3) 46.4% of students expressed a desire to select family medicine residency program, only 9.3% expressed no, and 44% did equivocality.
