Clinical observation was performed on 89 cases of tuberculous lymphadenitis on neck confirmed by lymph node biopsy from January, 1983 to August, 1988 st St. Vincent's hospital.
The following results were obtained.
1. The diagnostic accuracy of lymph node biopsy was 74.8%.
2. The male sex ratio was 1:2.6 and peak incidence of age was 20-29 years.
3. The unilateral TB lymphadenitis was 89.9%, and bilateral was 10.1%.
4. In anatomical site, posterior triangle was 72.4%, posterior triangle and anterior triangle 12.3%, anterior triangle 10%.
5. Intype, single mass was 50.6%, multiple mass 49.4%.
6. In chest x-ray, no pulmonary TB finding was 66.3%, minimal change 12.4%, inactive 2.2%, TB pleurisy 2.2%.
7. The recurrent rate of complete excision was 4%, and that of incomplete excision was 47%.
