We compared the health promotion behaviors of residents with those of general population who is almost same in income, age, and education level. We surveyed 69 samples of male Family Medicine resident members and 85 samples of female Internal Medicine resident(including Family Medicine resident) members who stay in Seoul in 1989. Also we surveyed 106 samples of male general population and 60 samples of female general population.
A self-report questionaire including 17 items measure of health promotion behaviors.
The results which we obtained that male FMR had better behaviors than male general population in smoking and drinking behavior, but worse in exercise, total calory intake and taking breakfast behavior. Female residents were worse than female general population in smoking, salt restriction and taking breakfast behavior. Consquently, health promotion behaviors of resident group was not better than general population and heath promotion education program is needed.
