The recognition and growth of family practice as a specialty has requierd the development of its own academic discipline based on its particular role in health care in Korea.
All of the articles published in the Journal of Korean Academy of Family Medicine from November, 1980 to June, 1989 were reviewed to analyze the research methods such as the research design, the way of data collection and the statistical procedures.
83.8% of all of the articles were review articles; 14.3% were original articles; 1.9% were case reports.
The proportion of descriptive study was 95.2%, since that of analytic study was 2.4%, and that of experimental study was 1.2%.
47% of original articles used the existing data and the 53% of the original articles collected new data for the study.
28.9% of original article used no statistical procedure; 24.1% of them used chi-square test; 16.9% of them used t-test; 25.3% of them made on mention of the statistical procedure.
