Abstract

Background
: Despite of the increasing needs for the powerful primary physician, there are few medical school in which family medicine is included in their predoctoral education. So, we studied the effects of family medicine education and evaluated family medicine curriculum.

Methods : In this study, 49 second grade medical school students and 7 educators associated were surveyed during the period from March 1991 to March 1992.

Results : Many students agreed that family medicine education was helpful. Practice class was preferred to lecture class. Most of students insisted that family medicine education be essential in predoctoral education. Many students became to consider majoring in family medicine as a career.

Conclusion : Family medicine education is helpful in establishing medical ethics and bringing up a responsible primary physician and so, is inevitable in predoctoral education.

초록

연구배경 : 현대의료의 전문화, 비인간화의 물결속에서 책임있는 일차의료인에 대한 요구가 증대하고 있는 가운데 우리나라 의과대학 중에서 가정의학 학부교육이 이루어 지고 있는 곳은 수개교에 불과하다. 이에 저자들은 가정의학 교육 후 그 강의 및 실습에 대한 평가를 시행하여 가정의학 교과과정 개발을 위한 기초자료를 마련하고자 하였다.

방법 : 1991년과 1992년에 가정의학 학부교육을 받은 울산의대 2학년들과 담당 교수진을 대상으로 설문조사를 시행하여 내용을 분석하였다.

결과 : 대상학생중 가정의학 강의 및 실습이 매우 도움이 된다고 한 경우는 각각 57%, 52%로서 실습시간에 대한 호응도가 더 높았다. 대상학생의 83%에서 가정의학 교육후 가정의학에 대한 생각이 많이 바뀌었다고 하였고, 96%가 가정의학 교육은 꼭 필요하다고 하였으며, 78%에서 가정의학 전공 의향을 고려하게 되었다고 한다.

결론 : 가정의학 교과과정은 올바른 의료관을 정립하는데 도움을 주었고 가정의학에 대한 바른 지식을 전달함으로써 향후 전공과목을 선택하는데에도 도움을 주어 책임있는 일차 의료인을 양성하는데에 중요한 역할을 하므로 의과대학의 학부교육에 필수적으로 포함되어야 한다.
